Jarit Johnson Returns to Home State for Toyota All-Star Showdown

Johnson Proud to Pilot #58 Supercuts Chevrolet

Irwindale, CA--
Monday January 19, 2008

Jarit Johnson announced today an entry into the NASCAR Toyota All-Star Showdown event at Irwindale Speedway near Los Angeles, California. Johnson is proud to pilot the #58 Supercuts Chevrolet on Saturday January 24th for the 250-lap race. In addition to Supercuts, Johnson will also promote the Jimmie Johnson Foundation by carrying the charity on his car. It’s been many years since Johnson has raced at Irwindale Speedway. His last event at the track was back in 1998 while driving a Spec Truck. In all he’s completed about fifteen races at the premier short-track, but this will be his first-ever entry into the Toyota All-Star Showdown.

“I’m really excited about racing at Irwindale again,” said Johnson. “It’s a track I learned a lot on when I started racing on pavement back in California. We had a small budget and an all volunteer crew, but it was a lot of fun and there are a lot of great memories I have from Irwindale.”

“I can’t thank Supercuts enough for coming on board and partnering with us for this race,” expressed Johnson. “We are also going to run the Jimmie Johnson Foundation logo to raise awareness to all the foundation is doing, especially in the Southern California area where we grew up. We also have GermaneRED back on board with us. All of our sponsors are great partners and we’re going to work hard to give them a good run in this race.”

Competition will be tough at the race labeled the Daytona 500 of Short – Track Races. Johnson is joined by many of the top short-track drivers in the country including NASCAR Truck Series Champion Ron Hornaday, NASCAR’s newest cup driver Joey Logano, NASCAR Camping World West Champion Eric Holmes and several other known drivers from short tracks around the nation. Despite the competition the El Cajon, California native, who grew up just a couple hours drive south of Irwindale Speedway, is up for the challenge.

“There are going to be some good cars in the field for sure,” said Johnson. “But we have a great crew, great sponsors and we just need to first make the show, then be patient, stay out of trouble and be there in the end. I’m ready to race and always welcome a challenge.”
